Usually the answer is financial, ‘I would never earn the money I am on now and I need the security of a steady income’. But think about the toll doing a job you no longer enjoy can take on your health and wellbeing:
And also, what about the effect on loved ones on whom you project your unresolved frustration.
So what can you do?
I have written before about how the greatest battle for service personnel may lie ahead as they are forced to adjust to life out of uniform at the end of their career. For some this process is hugely difficult; a few never really make that change. I recently met a student teacher who had decided to move on from a short naval career to teaching, taking advantage of resettlement opportunities available. For him there was financial assistance to cushion the impact but this change also took something else – self belief and the ability to take a risk.
For me, self belief was the key factor. Being positive and able to look and dream ahead. This is where hypnosis can help you. Visualising yourself in a new role, feeling the positivity of enjoying your new career path, dealing with the worry and anxiety of making the change, boosting your self esteem and even helping overcome those nagging doubts that creep into our minds and which hold us back from fulfilling our potential.
